How Friendship Bracelets Became Symbols of Community on the Eras Tour
As I reflected on the past year and looked ahead at the jewellery Zakoia should create, one thing was undeniably clear to me: 2024 is the year that truly defined and validated female interests.
The cultural and economic impact of the Barbie movie, Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour, and Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has shifted the way society perceives traditionally "feminine" hobbies and interests. Art that was once considered frivolous or unserious has now been embraced and celebrated with newfound respect.
The Eras Tour, in particular, was a powerful example of this transformation. It brought women together to celebrate art that resonated deeply with them—art created specifically for them, and represented their feelings and experiences. It was simply a celebration of female connection, and the cultural impact of that will be felt for years to come.
Much like how men don their jerseys and cheer for their favorite football teams and players, women proudly embraced their favorite eras, songs, and lyrics. They wore these symbols with pride in their costumes and exchanged friendship bracelets, creating a sense of community and shared celebration.
It was, without a doubt, one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life. And so, I wanted to design a bracelet that would commemorate what will surely be remembered as one of the greatest tours of all time.
